Rakeback is essential for the majority of players wanting to make a profit from online poker. Unless you’re in the minority of players who win each and every single month that they play, then anything that can give you an edge is certainly worth considering.
To put it simply, getting your rake back can see a losing player break even and a break even player become profitable, if you’re a winning player already, then congratulations, you now have another income stream. I generally win each month that I play poker but some months are obviously better than others, during the months where I have been running below equity and on the wrong side of variance, my rakeback deals are always there to cheer me up. the most I ever raked during one week was $2780, which with a 30% rakeback deal saw me pocket $834. For that I was multi-tabling 12 tables of NL50. Now let’s use these figures to show how the rakeback would have affected my profit/loss for that period depending on different results and whether I had rakeback or not
Results Without Rakeback Poker Results 1: Lost $500 playing poker = $500 Loss Poker Results 2: Won $100 playing poker = $100 Profit Poker Results 3: Won $800 playing poker = $800 Profit Results With Rakeback Poker Results 1: Lost $500 playing poker + $834 rakeback = $334 profit Poker Results 2: Won $100 playing poker + $834 rakeback = $934 profit Poker Results 3: Won $800 playing poker + $834 rakeback = $1634 profitI think it’s pretty self explanatory which is the better deal, here are some rakeback FAQs to explain what it is in more detail.
What is rake?
Rake is a charge which poker rooms charge players for playing at their poker site. If you play a poker tournament online then you will usually see the entry fee displayed with an additional amount, for example $10 + $1. The $1 is rake and the poker room collects this whilst the $10 goes into the prize pool you’re playing for.
When you’re playing for at the cash tables, after a pot has been created the poker room takes a percentage of the pot as rake. The amount taken as rake varies between poker sites, but it’s usually around 5%. Therefore a $10 pot would see the poker room collecting $0.50 in rake.
What is Rakeback?
Rakeback is a set percentage of the poker rake you’ve paid over a specific period being repaid directly to you. Most rake back offers are around 30%, which in real terms means that if you’ve paid $1000 in rake, you will receive a repayment of $300 directly into your poker account.
Why would a poker room give me some of their rake back?
The amount of rake you pay over to a poker room can accumulate very quickly and due to the competitive nature of the online poker industry, poker sites are constantly coming up with new methods of attracting and retainingg players. Full Tilt Poker is the largest room to offer rakeback and has significantly increased its market share through offering rakeback.
How will I receive my rakeback?

How often will I receive my rake back?
Generally speaking rakeback is paid monthly following the end of a calendar month. Some sites now make daily rakeback payments, some weekly, some fortnightly.
How much rakeback can I earn?
The only limitation to how much rakeback you can earn is down to yourself. If you multi-table $5/$10 6-max cash games for 8 hours every day, then you’re going to earn far more than if you played one 10c/20c cash game for 5 hours per week.
Will clearing a bonus affect my rakeback?
This depends which poker site you sign up with, but it’s safe to say that if you receive a welcome bonus, then your rakeback will be impacted slightly until you have cleared the bonus. Either way you’ll still be getting more money than if you just had a rakeback deal. A rakeback deal + bonus is the best way to earn free poker cash.
How do I know how much rakeback I have earned?
Most poker sites have a way of letting you know when you log into their software.
I have played at Boss Media but I haven’t received my rakeback?
Boss media sites have a minimum rake level, which has to be reached before they pay your rakeback. this is 100 euros. In the event that your rake at a site is lower than the minimum level, it’ll simply carry forward and be added onto your next month’s rake.
I have negative rakeback showing – Why is that?
Some poker sites levy a charge against you for making deposits or withdrawals. Although this doesn’t come out of your online poker balance, rakeback players can sometimes suffer minor charges against their rakeback by the poker site.
Can I sign up to as many poker sites as I like?
Yes! However you can only have one account per poker site.
What if I already have an account with the poker room?
Unfortunately poker rooms do not allow more than one account per person for security reasons. However we have many sites to choose from all with superb rakeback offers. Some sites within the same network allow you to sign up under a different skin. Please contact support if you have any further questions.
What does it cost me to sign up for Rakeback?
Absolutely nothing – it’s free to join any of the poker sites featured on here, if anyone ever says you have to pay to join, run away it’s a scam
